WOMEN IN OPERATIONS INSTITUTE - MEO AND THE DCRO INSTITUTE ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP TO ADVANCE RISK GOVERNANCE IN BRAZIL
The DCRO Institute is a global collaborative of board members and C-level executives that offers comprehensive credentialing programs for board members, director development tools, networking, and opportunities for sharing of best practices to foster better risk governance at organizations of all types. DCRO Institute credential holders now serve on boards in more than 45 countries on five continents.
“Our partnership with MEO expands our global effort to advance risk governance practices at the board level and to help under-represented groups bring their diverse skills and perspectives to the all-important strategic role that executive positions and boards play,” said David R. Koenig, President and Chief Executive Officer of the DCRO Institute. “The Brazilian economy is robust and diverse. Bringing even more women to leadership roles at organizations across the country, particularly when they bring a positive governance of risk-taking mindset to their role, is vital to long-term success in fulfilling their respective corporate missions.”
Maria Hallack, Qualified Risk Director®, is a founding member of MEO and serves as the Chair of the Board for the organization. She is an independent board member, representing prominent organizations such as IFC, Previ, and Petros. She currently holds the position of Chair of the Board at Balaroti Building Materials and serves as a member of the Board at Embrast Packaging, Industry, and Commerce. She was the first person in Brazil to be approved to use the Qualified Risk Director® designation and is a holder of the Certificate in Risk Governance® as well.
Said Ms. Hallack about the program and the partnership, "The partnership of DCRO and MEO Institute embodies the synergy of expertise and innovation, forging a path towards excellence in risk oversight and corporate governance. Through this collaboration, they are poised to empower Brazilian women, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to navigate intricate challenges, elevate decision-making capabilities, and propel sustainable success in the ever-evolving business landscape of today."
Ana Gati is the Chief Executive Officer and founding member of MEO. She is an independent board member and serves on the board of directors for Pérola, Neonergia (PREVI), Metalúrgica Aliança, and Hidrolight. She also runs her Management Consulting Firm, Gati Consultoria, and acts as an executive mentor for FDC and Ceolab organizations. She is presently enrolled in the DCRO Institute’s Board Members’ Course on Risk®.
She reflected on the role that MEO and the DCRO Institute can play in advancing women’s impact on boards by saying, “The collaboration among DCRO and MEO Institute in this partnership can support the Brazilian women by giving them higher qualification on risk management and consequently helping them advancing their career as executive and/or board member. The level of qualification delivered by DCRO courses gives a broader spectrum of corporate risk understanding as well as practical tools to deal with today's business challenges. Always contributing to business development at higher standards”
Among the programs offered by the DCRO Institute are its flagship course, The Board Members’ Course on Risk®, which is taught by some of the world's leading figures in risk governance. The program features lessons by nearly 50 board members, c-level executives, and well-known authors from five continents, and graduates of the program are awarded the Certificate in Risk Governance®.
Earlier this year, the DCRO Institute launched the Certificate in Cyber Risk Governance℠ to meet the growing demand for cyber and technology knowledge on boards, both from regulators and investors who see technology as essential for strategic success.
The DCRO Institute also offers the Qualified Risk Director® professional designation. This prestigious designation recognizes the distinguished ability to link corporate strategy to the positive governance of risk-taking. Permission to use the designation is granted to experienced senior executives and board members from diverse industries, experiences, and geographies who have completed a comprehensive evaluation process. Applicants are evaluated across their business experience, risk management, and risk governance acumen, their demonstrated personal leadership, and their educational background. Candidates must demonstrate breadth and depth across all four to gain permission to use the designation.
More than half of the holders of DCRO Institute credentials are women.
