The Sierra Leonean diplomatic community is in mourning following the passing of Victor Abdulai Sheriff, Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Washington D.C.

Mr. Sheriff, who passed away on March 27, 2025, at the age of 55, was a distinguished diplomat with a career spanning decades.

Born on April 19, 1969, Victor Sheriff dedicated his life to public service, exemplifying the highest standards of diplomacy. His impressive career included key roles such as Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Director of the Africa Division. He also served as Head of Chancery at the Sierra Leone High Commission in Nigeria and First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Conakry, Republic of Guinea.

Sheriff’s passing represents a significant loss to Sierra Leone’s foreign service. His colleagues and friends remember him for his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and profound commitment to his country.
