When Maryam Kaba arrived in Brazil three years ago, she could not have imagined that she would one day be asked to lead the Vila Isabel dance school in their performance at the world famous Brazilian street festival.

โ€œThe choreographer called me and said: โ€˜Iโ€™ve seen what you do and this is made for youโ€™,โ€ Kaba said.

It was Vila Isabel choreographer Patrick Carvalho who chose Kaba to lead his troupe. โ€œMaryam is the most Brazilian of French women Iโ€™ve ever seen in my life,โ€ he said. โ€œI love her art and her dance. Everything is on her shoulders. She's the one who's going to represent us."
