A plane crashed into a bus on a busy highway in Brazil on Friday morning, killing two and injuring six in the fiery horror.

The aircraft and bus exploded on impact, and footage showed flaming pieces of both strewn across the roadway in Sao Paulo, with the local fire department fighting to stop the fire from spreading.

The nightmare crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. local time when the plane attempted to perform an emergency landing five minutes after taking off, the local fire department said.

The plane was en route to Porto Alegre in the state of Rio Grande de Sul when it lost contact with the control tower of the Campo de Marte airport and crashed.

In a video shared by StoryfulNews, heavy smoke and large flames could be seen rising from Marques de Sao Vicente Avenue, the bustling road within the Barra Funda neighborhood of San Paulo.

The plane barely missed the rows of cars driving on the highway.

“It exploded immediately. Everyone was paralyzed. The plane was ripping up palm trees and signs,” witness Genival Dantas Arraes told TV Globo.

Two charred bodies were found inside the light aircraft, a King Air F90, which only had the capacity for about eight people, according to G1. The bodies were identified as the pilot, Gustavo Medeiros, and the owner of the aircraft, Mario Carpena.

“The pilot tried to land on Marques de Sao Vicente, and fortunately many cars swerved, but the plane hit the back of the bus and ended up exploding. The impact was huge, very scary,” witness Adriano Rolim told TV Globo.
