Vancouver Animation School Expands to Brazil

Online platform to launch first class in Brazil in Fall 2021; free introductory Zoom workshop/webinars set for July 31 and September 4.

Vancouver Animation School (VANAS) has announced it will open its first class for Brazilian students in September 2021. Prior to the opening, VANAS will host a free professional animation workshop with an online seminar format specially tailored to students in Brazil. The online events will take place on July 31 and September 4 at 10 AM Pacific Time (2 PM Brazil Time), and will be broadcast live on the Zoom platform.

Founded in 2010, VANAS is a fully accredited online school offering advanced programs for the animation, visual effects, and video game industries. The company offers vocational certificates, diplomas, and university pathways in a variety of art and technology, media, and design fields. In 2013, the school became the first 100% online institution to be fully accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA), a regulatory body in British Columbia, Canada. The institution frequently offers free tutorials on its YouTube channel.

Head of faculty, Calvin Leduc, a former Disney animator, will kick off the webinar with an introduction to  VANAS’ methodology and animation concepts. Ludec’s credits include work on animated films including Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) and Mulan (1998).

Also participating in the webinar will be illustrator Todd Marshall (Jurassic Park) who will teach conceptual art, and VANAS founder and CEO, Mario Pochat (Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties - 2006, the game Dead Rising 3 - 2013).
